All Isfahani children have the chance to experience cinema: mayor

Isfahan mayor announced: As Isfahan has been named a children-friendly city by UNESCO, all the students in the city are offered free admissions to the cinemas of the festival.

According to IMNA reporting from the information center of the 30th international film festival for children and youth, Isfahan mayor, Dr. Mehdi Jamali Nejad, referred to the festival’s return to Isfahan and stated: This round of festival is planned to be hosted by Isfahan with a greater glory. “The clear distinction between the coming round and the previous ones is the maximum figures of the artists attending the festival and all the citizens’ involvement.”

Pointing out that a large number of teenagers will attend the festival from many foreign countries, Jamali Nejad declared: Isfahan will host 8 guests from 44 countries over this cultural event. 30 referees are foreigners, 6 of them are Iranians from Isfahan. 66 national referees will also serve the jury who are all from Isfahan.

The mayor of Isfahan also reminded that long, semi-long, and short films as well as animations are going to be screened in several cinemas of the city competing one another. He then continued: Specialized workshops and forums, photo & poster exhibits are also scheduled to be held in the municipal central library on the sidelines of the event.

“Isfahan is contemplated as a safe city”, mentioned Jamali Nejad and added: Foreign filmmakers and guests of the current round of the festival are coming from Germany, Poland, Russia, Libya, Czech, Canada, France, Switzerland, Belgium, UAE, and England.   

Isfahan mayor considered the presence of foreign guests as a fine potential to introduce the city’s historical capacities to artists and sophisticates of the international cinema, as they can well stimulate foreigners to travel to the city of Isfahan.  

The mayor then claimed that the 30th film festival for children and youth is of the highest quality compared to the previous rounds. “As Isfahan has been named a children-friendly city by UNESCO, the tickets to the festival will be free for all students in the city”, he announced.

He then explained: “All the children and youth of Isfahan can enroll in the festival’s telegram robot (icff_bot@) and receive one ticket for free and 18 tickets at 75 % discount. Also introducing the telegram robot to others will let the sender gain bigger discounts.”   

“Miscellaneous set of programs and commemorations of cinema celebrities are also going to be set up in Nour Garden in Isfahan, The closing ceremony will be held in Kowsar hall”, he continued.

Jamali Nejad made remarks about supporting domestic cinema products, saying: 40 short films on the subject of children and youths will be established on the sidelines of the following festival for the first time.
