Leader visits earthquake-hit Kermanshah

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called Monday on the Iranian officials to intensify efforts to extend relief aids to the quake-stricken areas in western country, IRNA reported.

“I'm not content with this level [of aid],” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a gathering in the quake-stricken city of Sarpol-e Zahab in western Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei also sympathized with all the people in cities and villages affected by the massive earthquake on November 12 and all those who lost their loved ones in the quake.

“I share the grief of every single heart here. I wish we could visit you at a better time,” he said.

Referring to the resistance by the brave people in Kermanshah Province and all the sacrifices they made during the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, the Leader said that great humans resist and stand against incidents.

“You showed your courage and endurance during the imposed war. You show that courage today, too,” he said.

He also personally visited people accommodated in tents and closely checked their conditions.

He paid visit to the earthquake-hit areas in Kermanshah Province to appeal to the earthquake victims and the injured, Mehr News Agency reported.

The quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale rattled the border region between Iran and Iraq on November 12, causing extensive damage and loss of life, presstv.com wrote.

According to the latest figures, at least 437 people have lost their lives and 9,388 others sustained injuries in the earthquake. More than 12,000 homes have also been completely destroyed in the incident.
