Connecting Minds, Creating Future: Theme of Expo 2020

Every Expo has particular theme and Expo 2020 Dubai revolves around its own theme that is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. Furthermore, there will be three subthemes of opportunity, mobility and sustainability in Expo 2020. So, according to these subthemes, there will be three districts which are anchored based on the subthemes by a thematic pavilion.

Opportunity is unlocking the potential for individuals and communities to shape the future.

Mobility is to create smarter and more productive movement of people, goods and ideas, both physically and virtually.

Sustainability is respecting and living in balance with the world we inhabit.

Purpose of such a great Expo is to improve visitor’s knowledge in different fields of art, culture, science and technology. In this regard, one of the most creative pavilions in Expo 2020 is UK pavilion which is designed by Es Devlin, a British female designer. This pavilion which is called Poem Pavilion, made up numerous Al-generated poems made up of rows of protruding slats extend outwards from one central point to form a circular façade.

The Poem Pavilion will apply machine learning technology in order to produce space- related words and phrases. As Devlin stated, this concept was inspired by Stephen Hawking’s final project that is called Breakthrough Message. As a global competition, this project invited people to represent humanity through creation digital messages.

In Poem Pavilion, poems are designed in Arabic, French, Chinese and as well as English. Devlin hopes that this pavilion gives visitors from all over the world with different cultures and languages a sense of unification.
