The danger of drying up the water reservoir behind the Zayanderud dam by mid-July

Isfahan (IMNA) _ the CEO of Isfahan Province Water and Wastewater Company said: “If water consumption continues in this way, the Zayandehrud river will cut into its water supply  by the end of July 2018 and there is no other way to supply water for Isfahan. Hashem Amini stated that water shortage is much more serious than ever before.

 Zayandehrud Dam supplies drinking water of 6 million people in Isfahan, Yazd provinces and Kashan as well. It also supplies agriculture water of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Isfahan provinces and the required industrial water for Isfahan and Yazd. Emphasizing on preventing the authorized and unauthorized water harvesting of Zayanderood water storage, he stated: "When the river dries, the scenario of "water transfer pipeline project" to Yazd is meaningless”. Amini continued: installing the pressure reducing valve could lead to 20 to 30 percent reduction in water consumption; everyone should propagate correct water consumption until the end of this summer.

The CEO of Water and Wastewater Company of Isfahan province, emphasizing that water is a public issue and all sectors in health, security, and services organizations should get involve in the issue to overcome the difficult period of water shortage. He also stated: "If water consumption continues in this way, the Zayandehrud river will cut into its water supply  by the end of July 2018 and there is no other way to supply water  for Isfahan."
