Iran Calls for Dialogue to Defuse Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions

In light of the recent escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Iran has urged both nations to exercise restraint, uphold mutual respect, and engage in immediate diplomatic dialogue to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

Iran (IMNA) - Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, voiced concern over the latest developments, stressing the need for both sides to honor each other’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

Calling for composure and direct talks, the senior Iranian diplomat emphasized that disputes should be resolved through diplomatic channels rather than confrontation.

Baghaei highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the preservation of peace and stability in the surrounding region a core priority. He reiterated Iran’s willingness to provide any form of assistance required to help de-escalate tensions between the two neighboring Muslim nations.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have intensified in recent days, raising alarms across the region. Iran, which shares borders with both countries, has traditionally positioned itself as a mediator in South and Central Asian affairs, consistently advocating for dialogue and diplomacy to prevent conflicts from undermining regional stability.
