Coronavirus kills 136 more in Iran over past 24 hours

Iran reported 10485 new cases in the last 24 hours. With the new caseloads, the country's total coronavirus cases has reached to 3,105,620.

Iran (IMNA) - The country reported 136 deaths yesterday, taking the death toll to 83,101. Iran has tightened its COVID-19 lockdown measures to contain a surge in infections in the country.The measures include extensive bans on private transportation across different provonces. A continuing nighttime curfew also stays in place. The new measures will last till the cities turn into blue or white zones of coronavirus.

Iran is among some Asian countries seeing a rise in the number of infections amid a vaccination processes. Last year, Iran took drastic measures to restrict movements when it had only a handful of coronavirus cases. It imposed one of the earliest lockdowns and closures in the world. The country gradually eased those restrictions as the number of COVID-19 cases dropped.

However, infections soared by the beginning of the Persian New Year and overwhelmed the fragile health system
