Deputy Director for livestock production affairs of Iran's Ministry of Agricultural Jihad said, "With the unprecedented increase in demand and distribution of silkworm seeds for the production of silkworm, it is predicted that the production of cocoons reaches to 1,400 tons this year."

Iran (IMNA) - "32000 culture boxes of high-quality silkworm seeds have been distributed throughout the country from the beginning of the year; the process will be continuing to the tenth of June. It is expected to distribute the seeds on such amount that will be50  percent more than the previous year," Morteza Rezaei said.

"With warm welcome of farmers to silkworm seed production, the number of provinces that are engaged in silkworm rearing activities has increased from 23 provinces to 27 ones," Rezaei added.

"The distribution of silkworm seeds in the past year has been estimated to be25,200  culture boxes; there is a hope that with the continuation of the distribution processes and the production of silk cocoons, the cocoa production will be increased to1400  tons in 2019.
