Khaju bridge to go dark tonight for Earth Hour

Earth Hour, the world's greatest campaign to fight against the global climate change is back on Saturday March 30, 2019.

Iran (IMNA) - In Iran, like many other countries around the world, emblematic monuments and iconic landmarks will be plunged into darkness from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday night as  a part of a call for action to save the planet and celebrate the Earth Hour.The campaign is an annual international event that is organized by WWF (World Wide Fund) to bring awareness about the role of humans on the planet and promote more actions to preserve the environment.

Earth Hour 2019 will focus on taking actions on conserving nature and biodiversity. In Isfahan, Khaju Bridge's lights will be switched off to highlight a global message regarding the climate change and display a symbolic commitment to the planet protection.

The Khajoo Bridge is one of the magnificent historical bridges over the Zayandeh-Rood River in Isfahan. It was constructed in 1650, during the era of Shah Abbas II.
