Persian New Year not well known globally

"Persian New year, unlike the Christian or Chinese New Year, doesn’t attract foreign tourists; this is the weak point for Iran," Jamshid Jafarpour, the member of the Cultural Commission of Islamic Consultative Assembly said.

Iran (IMNA) – "Despite the fact that Nowruz is an ancient celebration, foreign tourists are not attracted to the event, since suitable urban celebrations have not provided yet,"Jafarpour noted.

"Although Nowruz celebrations in neighboring countries are not at an international level, many amusing and colorful programs are held in Tajikistan in comparison to Iran; It seems that Nowrouz is more prominent and exciting for them, so they wait eagerly for the eve," the representative of Larestan, Khenj, and Gerash people said.

Referring one sided attitudes as the main factor of diminishing the social excitement in Iran, he added, "Unfortunately, some attitudes do not regard Nowrouz as an opportunity, but considered to be in conflict with some other beliefs. Actually, there are obstacles in the path of happiness and vivacity in the society."
