Isfahani students break donation record

"According to the recorded statistics, this year, the amount of students' cash and non-cash donations to their compatriots has increased by 25 percent," the head of Iranian Students Organization of Iran's General Education Department said.

Iran (IMNA) – Pointing out that activities which are being carried out in schools as charity event are based on the instructions of the Ministry of Education, Abbas Zahiri added, "According to our planning, one school in each district should start the measure symbolically."

"After finishing the charity event, collected donations will be delivered to the needy students of the same or other schools, with the presence of some representatives from the General Education Department and Relief Committee. Donations include supplying basic needs of New Year's eve and stationery," he continued.

Emphasizing that the purpose of holding the event in schools is internalizing the culture of helping others among students, he noted, "This event is held every year, so that we can help to end poverty and deprivation, promote the donation culture and internalizing respect to the needy students."

"Since our school is the elementary one, we have tried to be pioneer in holding charity event in addition to running charity Bazaar. Many concepts will be internalized at childhood; we attempt to push them toward being righteous  and ending the social exclusion," Mehri Mostafavi, the director of one of the schools of the 5th municipal district said.
