Isfahan (IMNA) – "The great economic impact of sister cities on each other is undeniable; however, urban officials of Iran ignore this important advantage of sister cities, and they don’t try to establish any economic relationship and provide the adequate context for sister cities growth," Habibollah Sayami said.
"In many cases, when two European cities sign twinning arrangements agreements, both cities try to boost their economies by using each other's experiences, and apply the economic benefits of their sisterhood relationships to improve the economy and develop their industries," he added.
"Local and citizens committees can interact with the officials of sister cities, and reflect their experiences to their own authorities by taking advantage of their roles in urban relationships," he continued.
"The cultural and civilization similarity between two cities is the most important criterion of their twin city relationship, but unfortunately, these relationships include political flavors, and the cultural and civilization criterion are ignored," he also said.
