High water-use plants to be replaced with resistant species

"This year, drought-tolerant species have been replaced with 5% of high water-use plants," the CEO of the parks and green space of Isfahan municipality said.

Isfahan (IMNA) - "Currently, there are 540 hectares grass which requires high amount of water in Isfahan, and we cannot destroy them in one year, definitely we don’t do this; the replacement will be gradually completed in five years," Forough Mortezaeenejad said.

Saying that regarding the issue of water crisis, there are three subjects of supply, distribution, and consumption, she added, "This year, parks and green space organization of Isfahan municipality has taken out some measures such as; training programs, stationing the representative of the parks organization at 137 system office to answer the citizens' questions, and making the interactive voice response (IVR) of the organization active, training the workers of the green space to irrigate trees and green space properly."

"Regarding water distribution, creating water collectors, water storage tanks, and water supply network have been carried out so far," she continued. Pointing out that the most important concern is the matter of supplying water, she said, "Three sources of water supply are the Zayandeh-Rood River, water wells in the city, and wastewater that should be placed in the cycle of green space, but now there isn’t any river, the wells have been dried up and few of them are active; therefore, wastewater is the only hope we have."
