Isfahan a pilot to produce organic products

"This year, four provinces of Khuzestan, Fars, Isfahan, and Zanjan have been selected as the pilot to produce organic and certified healthy products," the consultant of the minister of agriculture and director general of the environmental health and food safety department said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "Three factors of well-informed farmers, technical support of agricultural unions, and agricultural potentials are the reasons of choosing these four provinces as the pilot to produce organic products," Saeed Saadat said.

Pointing out that increasing the farmers' incomes and providing the food security in the country will require more attention to the production of certified products for domestic consumption and export, he added, "The facilities and necessary context have been provided to produce organic and certified products in the country."

"Although organic products are produced in open spaces, it is possible to produce them in greenhouses where the water consumption, toxins, and chemical fertilizer are controlled," he said. "In recent years, the consumption of organic and certified products in our community is increasing due to their health security, but the price of organic foods is two to three times higher than other products because they don’t contain chemical and their production is limited," he added.

Saying that consumption of organic and certified products is a kind of strategy to prevent certain diseases, he said, "The best places to use organic products are the hospitals, universities, kindergartens, and restaurants. This strategy is a kind of culture-building practice."
