Cinema can inspire children, youth

Latvian film director and producer believes that cinema inspires people and could play a key role in life of children and youth.

Isfahan (IMNA) - Pavels Gumennikovs in an interview with the reporter at the news headquarters of Iran’s 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth said that the children and youth cinema are “super important because kids are our future.”

Gumennikovs has directed “Just Go” – a movie which is now a participant in the festival’s international competition section for short live action films. “Just Go” depicts a young man who lost both his legs in a childhood accident comes to rescue a girl he loves when she is victimized by villains.

He said cinema inspired people and when children are inspired by good films, they can go and make a good future for their country and the world. Gumennikovs, who has started filmmaking at the age of 20, said he is familiar with Iranian director Asghar Farhadi's, that his film “The Salesman” has won the 2017 Academy Award.

Latvian film director underscored that such films make other people to understand that what is happening in this part of the world.

Presided by Alireza Rezadad, the 31st edition of International Film Festival for Children and Youth inaugurated on August 30 in central Province of Isfahan and the event would be wrapped up in September 5.
