 Sarawar Mosque lost in history

Sarawar historical congregational Mosque or (Masjid-e Jameh) is located on 16 km northeast of Golpayegan and on the main road to Sarawar village. The dates carved on the pulpit and the wooden door of the mosque tell about its construction during the Timurid era, but some repairs and restoration had also been done during the Safavid era.

Isfahan (IMNA) - In the past, there was a yard in front of the mosque; unfortunately, it has been destroyed due to a road crossed the middle of the yard. Sarawar Mosque has three entrance gates in the south, west, and east. It has one veranda with 10 meters length and two wooden columns with 5.4 meters height. In the past, the western door of the mosque was located in the middle of the veranda; today, it is stored and protected elsewhere due to its historical and artistic value.

The historical door of the mosque with 190 cm height and 110 cm width has a very delicate margin. From the bottom part of each valve to its middle, flowers and bushes are carved. In the middle of both parts, the name of Imam Ali-ebne-Abitaleb is carved four times in a Pseudo-Kufic and Square-Shaped Font; in the bottom, a lock is hanging.

At the center of the mosque, there are four large wooden pillars which bear all the ceiling weight. The capitals of the pillar has very beautiful girih art works which are similar to capitals of the pillars of Kokand historical congregational Mosque in Uzbekistan.

The historic pulpit of Sarawar Mosque of Golpayegan has been in existence for more than 6 six centuries. With five steps, about 2.5 meters height and half a meter width, this pulpit has a unique beauty in terms of fretwork art
