Pigeon towers to renew in Isfahan

Expressing that we should consider the facts when designing the entrance of Isfahan, a PHD holder in Urban Development and Architecture said, "Restorayion of Pigeon Towers which are situated at the city entrances is more effective than building green walls."

Isfahan (IMNA)- "Since the entrances of a city are memorable and memory maker, it is necessary to organize them because the mental image that people take from a city goes back to its entry and exists symbols," Mohammad Massoud commented. "Entrances which have good spatial design and layout can be effective and play a significant role in the mind of viewers." he added.

"As an example, the appearance of Imam Khomeini Street, which is located at the north entrance of the city, do not deserve the identity of Isfahan; when a tourist or a passenger arrive at Isfahan from this street, he/she will not get a good image  from the city; this inappropriate image will cause visual disturbances in the city entrances," he said.

"Urban designs that are based on building parkways or green walls require a lot of irrigation and are not suitable projects for a city like Isfahan which faces many problem regarding the water shortage,”  this PHD holder in Urban Development and Architecture added.

Emphasizing that creating green spaces or green walls at the airport entrance cannot add a value to the formalistic aspect of the airport, Massoud stressed, "There are urban elements such as Pigeon Towers that are very valuable, memorable, and different on this way; there are no examples of them in other countries. Pigeon towers are Iran-specific attractions but unfortunately they are not appreciated  in the country.
