90% of pistachio gardens have been destroyed in Badrud

“Spring frostbite and the hot weather have destroyed more than 90% of pistachio gardens in Badrud area,” the head of Natanz agricultural guild organization said.

Natanz (IMNA) - Informing the destruction of more than 90% of pistachio gardens in Badrud area, Saeed Hassanian Badi said: “Hot weather in the month of February, spring frostbite, and also the lack of appropriate insemination due to the temperature fluctuations are the main factors of destruction of the pistachio gardens of this area.
 

“In recent weeks, sudden rise in temperature has caused bad conditions for the pistachio gardens. Furthermore, hail and rainfall have destroyed this product and reduced the productivity of the gardens,” he added.
 

“Cultivated land area of pistachio in Badrud is about one thousand hectares,” the head of agricultural corporation of Natanz said. “Jumbo pistachio (Kalleghouchi), Long pistachio (Ahmadaghaee), Round pistachio (Fandoghi), and Akbari are the types of pistachios cultivated in this area,” he added.
 

“Only 10 percent of pistachio gardens can be harvested during this year; about 300 tons of the product will be harvested,” Hassanian Badi asserted. “Approximately 3,000 tons of all types of pistachios of Badrud area garden were harvested last year,” he noted.
