Fritillarias Shorter Than Ever!

Isfahan (IMNA) – Normally, the height of Fritillaria of Golestankuhis 60 to 70 centimeters, while they have grown only 30 centimeters this year due to the lack of rainfalls and winterfrost in the city of Fritillarias.

Khansar, the paradise of Iran in the west of the province, is famous for its natural attractions and numerous orchards of walnut and beautiful streams that flow through the trees. One of the most beautiful and unique places of Khansar is Golestan Mountain (Golestankuh), where the red Fritillarias grow.

The height of Fritillarias of Golestankuh is normally 60 to 70 centimeters, while they have grown only 30 centimeters this year due to the lack of rainfalls and winter frost in the city of Tulips. According to Ibrahim Hashemi, there are lots of tourists here in Golestankuh from the 20th to the end of April every year.

“Fritillaria is a Bulbous plant that grown more in the hillsides and its flowering time is in May,’’ Director of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Khansar said. "Picking these flowers and their bulbs, unmethodical planting, trampling flowers, digging ground for shallots and throwing flowers bulbs out of the soil, changing climate and natural conditions have led to a decrease in the growth of Fritillarias," he added.

 “The nearby villages of the mountain benefits from the tourist, the villagers and the rural cooperatives do their best efforts to maintain the region," The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Khansar said, With the area of 950 hectares, Golestankuh is one of the largest and most beautiful natural habitats of Fritillarias in the country which is located 150 kilometers west of Isfahan.
