Yesterday's Negligence; Today's Water Crisis

Governor of Shahreza said: "The lack of proper planning to deal with the today water crisis is a critique which is attributed to the performance of related organizations who are responsible to solve the issue."

Shahreza (IMNA) _ "The problem of water shortage was not unpredictable; experts and professionals in this field has been warned about the issue since a decade ago," Ali Asghar Rafie Nezhad said during the Agricultural Council meeting on Sunday. He continued: "The lack of proper planning to deal with what is now considered as a dilemma and a water crisis attributed to the performance of related organizations who are responsible to solve the issue."

Governor of Shahreza added: "The gradual decline in precipitation since 50 years ago was visible and the current situation was also predictable; therefore, it is necessary for the managers to implement the plans developed in the past in the current situation. However, unfortunately we are still facing the problems at the stage of planning." Rafie Nezhad emphasized: "According to the experts’ reports, the water crisis that also affects the reservoir of aquifers are not compensable; therefore, the more deterioration of the current situation should be prevented.

Saying that all of us are responsible for the posterity, he stated: "One of the most important priorities regarding the issue is the public sector support for the domestic knowledge with the aim of solving existing problems and ensuring the conservation of natural resources for the next generation. Pointing to the drought problems of Shahreza, Rafie Nezhad emphasized:" regarding the water management in the agricultural sector, irrigating the gardens is the most important priority of the town; however, changing the farming patterns should also be implemented seriously.

Rafie Nezhad added: "Due to the continuation of the drought situation and the decline of the agricultural activities profitability, sustainable sources of income for farmers should be provided; therefore, it is necessary to support the non-agricultural economy in rural areas."
