Naqsh-e Jahan Square surprises me every time

Recently, in a meeting which was held to expand international relations in the field of the arts, a delegation from Germany visited Iran and met Isfahan officials.

Isfahan (IMNA)_ the German delegation that activates in the fields of  architecture, urbanization, music, and philosophy attended a meeting with Isfahan officials to  talk about the rich culture of Isfahan while visiting various places in Isfahan including Aliqapoo, Naqsh-e Jahan Square, and Ali Qoli Aqa's Bathroom,.

One of the members of this delegation was a German female architect, Ariana Schnuot Welk; she responded to IMNA’s reporter questions about the culture of Isfahan before her trip to Vienna.

How do you describe your trip to Isfahan?

First of all, I'm definitely amazed. This is not my first time in this historical city. I had the great chance of being is Isfahan in 2006 and 2012 as well; but it does not affect my great enthusiasm of seeing the architecture of Isfahan again.

What aspects of Naqsh-e Jahan Square draws your attention?

The elegance of the architecture of Naqsh-e Jahan and its beauty are in such a way that make people from different social class to be together and help them better know each other and get closer psychologically.

In your recent visits, have you noticed anything new in Naqsh-e Jahan Square?

One of the issues that had annoyed me during my previous visits was the car traffic in the square. In my recent visit of the square, I realized that vehicles are banned from entering it; I am very pleased with this action since Naqsh-e Jahan is one of the most valuable historical place in the world; so its correct maintenance is also a global task.

Do you have any ideas on the urban architecture of Isfahan?

At the macro level, what attracts my attention in the architecture of Isfahan is ignoring the role of national culture and the spirit of Isfahan architecture in urban construction. Many of the buildings and business complexes in the city do not have any similarity to their surroundings constructions. This issue is a threatening matter and needs to be addressed by the relevant authorities.

Do you have any suggestions for solving this problem?

Referring to the up to date standards of architecture, focusing and concentrating on the historical places of the city, and extracting the spirit of the architecture of Isfahan through the beautiful old artistic patterns can be useful.
