Ali Basirpour told IMNA reporter: Zayandeh-Rood Dam stores 169 million cubic meters water which has witnessed a 10% increases than the last year. However, the amount has had a 74% decreases when compared to a long term average, according to the latest data.
The current reserved amount can supply Isfahan drinking water only, the deputy announced disappointingly, and added that water delivery amount to industrial sector has slightly declined due to the water crisis.
In order to handle the crisis, the authority stressed: there is a serious need to build Koohrang and Behesht-Abad tunnels in the fastest possible time, otherwise the conditions deteriorate at the Zayandeh-Rood catchment area.
Located at 110 kms to the west of Isfahan, the dam is built on the Zayandeh-Roud River with a reservoir capacity of 1 billion & 400 million cubic meters (CBM).
