Iran to host int'l tourism forum in 2018

Iranian City of Hamedan will host World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) forum in 2018, an official in Iran's tourism sector declared on Wednesday.

'World Tourism Organization, with some 500 private tourism firms as its members from 130 countries, including Iran (9 companies from Iran), is the highest international body that is active in tourism industry,' Managing Director of Alisadr Tourism Company Hamid Reza Yari told reporters.

Correspondence for hosting the forum in 2018 began last year, and given the tourist attractions of Hamedan, including Ecbatana, Avicenna Mausoleum and Alisadr Cave, the request was accepted, and for the first time the UNWTO General Assembly will be held in Iran, he added.

Yari said that the required infrastructure for the international event is available in Hamedan, adding that an estimated 400 private companies are expected to visit Iran for the purpose of participating in the Assembly.

Hamedan, the capital city of a province with the same name, is in the Midwest part of Iran, 360 kilometers southwest of Tehran.
