Centralized database to be created for national cars

The manager of traffic control center for Isfahan municipality announced the establishment of a database in Iran’s capital, Tehran, to which all other cities in the country will be connected.

Homayoun Yazdan-Panah as the manager of Isfahan traffic control center expressed in an interview with IMNA reporter: the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), also called environmental zones, is a project based on which those cars with inspection certificates can drive within the LEZ.

The official continued: the LEZ project is now under study and negotiation with some experienced companies.

Non-compliant cars with no inspection certificates detected by the database application are subjected to large fines, he added.

Yazdan-Panah made the speech emphasizing: “there is no difference between injector cars and carbureted cars in terms of entering the odd/even traffic zones, but the amount of contamination is what matters most. We may witness a time at which carburetor cars are not certificated due to their large amount of contamination.

He then completed his talk by saying that motorcycles are not still included in the traffic plan due to their different-sized number plates.

“Unfortunately motorcycle owners do not return their vehicles after being fined or confiscated because the fines are heavier than the cost of their vehicles. This has changed into a very problematic issue and many municipal parking garages are filled with such confiscated motorcycles”, Homayoun Yazdan-Panah expressed hopelessly.
