Over 123000 foreign tourists visit Isfahan/ beating a record

Director General of Isfahan Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization, Fereydoon Allahyari announced the official statistics of entering foreign tourists to Isfahan Province.

IMNA reports from public relations of Isfahan Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization, quoting from Fereydoon Allahyari: Analyzing the existing statistics in the organization of cultural heritage suggests that 123 thousand & 810 foreigners have visited Isfahan province’s monuments and tourist attractions over the second Iranian month of Ordibehesht (April 21st- May 21st)

Allahyari added that taking the first month of the Iranian into account, the number of visitors in both two first months will extend to 208 thousand & 810.  This remarkable number is not only the highest in recent four years of the 11th government, but throughout the whole contemporary history of Iran after the Islamic revolution.

Referring to the tourism progress in Isfahan, he declared: This year during the hot days of elections in Iran, Isfahan hosted great number of tourists. They interestingly joined the big gatherings of presidential election’s candidates in historical sites such as Imam Square.

They even attended the voting places on the day of election and expressed their surprise with the huge crowd. Some of them admitted that this was the first time they witness this great extent of democracy in the restless region of the Middle East.

The official also pointed to the changes in the “age indicators” as well as changes in “travel patterns” for cultural travelers to Isfahan, saying: This year, we, for the first time, watched the changes of approaches for travel in Isfahan Province. On one hand, younger travelers are entering Isfahan; and on the other hand, tourists are coming here in families rather than singly.

The major reason they choose Isfahan as a destination is their friends’ recommendations who have already traveled to Isfahan. “We take trips to Isfahan in order to visit monuments and tourist attractions under the shadow of tranquility, safety, and peace created by Iranians”, tourists told IMNA interviewers.
