Subway honks its horn at Isfahan Azadi Sq.

According to IMNA reporter, using urban subway system dates back to the second half of 19th century, when industrial flourish peaked at the highest level, and many innovative ideas and projects were daily introduced for development urban lifestyle.

The idea for constructing the early metro line was first proposed in England and Germany, in a way that only two major stations connected the two sides of a city to each other by an underground line.

After the glorious Islamic revolution in Iran in 1980, the thought of founding metro lines was followed by the thorough researches which were carried on by Management and Planning Organization of Isfahan Province. After which cable network system was offered for the city.   

Clean and reasonable travels by urban subway

Isfahan has long undergone the traffic restrictions as a result of metro constructions. The agents, however, are making 24-hour efforts to bring the proceedings into operation.

An Isfahani citizen says to IMNA interviewer that the attempts by Isfahan municipality is highly appreciated. “Before the arrival of Persian new year holidays (Nowruz), I was afraid that Nowruz guests would face the working chaos in the city. But the municipality’s thoughtful plans led to remove all operation works in the city, and to create many beautification projects all around”, he explained.   

Another citizen emphasized that metro working hours should extend in order for people to use them during night hours.

Full utilization of Isfahan metro line 1 by the end of the current Iranian year

The Chief Advisor of Isfahan mayor, Javad sherbaaf, states: Line 1 of the subway was last year exploited from Qods town to Takhti station in Isfahan.

He continues that the length of the mentioned line is 20 kms (connecting north of the city to south), from the total of which 11 kms is completed in 20 stations out of the whole number of 20. “Travelers can use the trains daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.”, Sherbaaf told IMNA reporter.

He then announced that Subway will arrive at Isfahan Azadi Sq. by the late June.

The chief advisor confirmed that 15000 kms of experimental travels must be done in order to check all potential problems.

2nd line to be completed in four years

Sherbaaf assured Isfahan citizens that the second line of urban trains will be fully available for people by the next four years. “The line is planned to connect “Imam Hossein” town to “Shahid kharazai” highway.

Finally at his speech, he pointed to the 3rd line of Isfahan subway system, declaring: Designing the 3rd line has been also done from “Azadi” Sq. to the west of the city at “Andisheh” Bridge. The contractor for the project has already been chosen, and all administrative arrangements are previously done.
