The Zayandeh-Rood River will be reopened on Monday morning, and it will flow in the riverbed 48 hours later.

Iran (IMNA) - The deputy director of surveillance and exploitation of Isfahan Regional Water Company announced the exact date of reopening the ZayandehRood dam that is 28, January. The opening decision has been carried out to provide water for the second planting season.

The last time that the Zayandeh-Rood River flowed in Isfahan was in January, 2017. This river is considered as the biggest river of central plateau of Iran; however, over the past 15 years, the input rate of water to the Zayande-Rood dam has reached to the minimum amount and the river dried due to the decreasing and changing the types of precipitation, watershed management plans in the upstream and transferring water to the neighboring provinces. Finally there was no efficient allocation of irrigation water to the west and east of Isfahan.

Since some years ago till now, farmers and gardeners of the east and west of Isfahan province have been protesting in various parts of the province to exercise their water right and solve their livelihood problems.
