"Each year, 70,000 to 80,000 photos are sent to the World Press Photo secretariat, curator of World Press Photo Exhibition said.

Iran (IMNA) – "Currently, this exhibition is being held in Isfahan; this event is very important for the World Press Photo foundation," Yi Van Hissio said. "There are many reasons behind holding the event in Isfahan; the most important one is the role of Iranian photojournalists in the photography industry and World Press Photo contest," he added.

"The artworks displayed in this exhibition are a collection of the featured photos in the last three editions of the World Press Photo contest. From the date of WPF establishment, we have held annual photo competitions since 1955. Participating in this contest is free for professional photographers from all over the world. In the first year of holding this competition, we received about 300 photographs, but the number of photos has been increased since 1955. About 70,000 to 80,000 photos are sent each year to the secretariat," she countinued.

"World Press Photo is trying to hold various exhibitions in many places around the world as possible; since we believe that news photos play an effective role in all societies. A society should be aware and have access to free and independent information to act properly," she also said.
