Sunflower or Helianthus is originating from North America. Sunflower was probably first introduced to Europe through Spain, and gradually spread through Europe. At the moment, more than 60 varieties of sunflowers are found around the world.

Isfahan (IMNA) - They face the sun during the day, so they move from the east to the west; actually, this plant is known as being heliotropism that is essentially solar tracking. Sunflowers are among the fastest growing plants as they can grow to a height of 300 cm or more.

The oil of this plant is used as cooking oil, medicine paint, animal feed, and bio-diesel. This kind of oil includes minerals like calcium, iron, and also vitamin A and D. Sunflower head includes about 1000 to 2000 florets  joined in an enlarged area at the apex of a stem. A single sunflower has about 2000 seeds.
