Costume of cooking Samanu; intangible cultural heritage

The head of Kashan's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism department announced the registration of the traditional costume of cooking Samanu in Meshkat in the intangible cultural heritage list of Iran.

Iran (IMNA) – "This traditional-religious costume has been celebrated by people throughout the year, especially from 6 to 17 March," Mehran Sarmadian said. Saying that cooking Samanu is one of the oldest costumes in Kashan, he added, "The city's inhabitants attend this religious ritual to pay their respects to Ahl al-Bayt (the Household of Prophet Muhammad)."

"This cultural event was registered in the intangible cultural heritage list, with the registration number of 1684," he continued. "25 intangible works in Kashan County have been nationally registered so far," he noted. Meshkat is the northernmost city of Isfahan province that is located 25 kilometers from Kashan.
