Reservoir storage behind Zayandeh-Rood River not desirable

"Despite the rainfall during the recent weeks, the inflow discharge of the Zayandeh-Rood dam and the reservoir storage are not desirable," the deputy of Conservation and Exploitation of Isfahan Regional Water Company said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – Announcing that the amount of water stored behind the dam was 128 million cubic meters till November 26, Hassan Sasani said, "This amount has been decreased more than 80 percent in comparison to the stored amount in the long term."

"Last year, about 154 million cubic meters water has been stored in the dam in the same period of time; it indicates the decrease of 16 percent in comparison to the last year," he continued. "The average inflow discharge has been 39.7 million cubic meters since the beginning of this water year, it has increased only 1.4 percent in comparison to the last year; compared to the long-term average, it has decreased by 59 percent," he said.

Saying that the average of water output from the Zayandeh-Rood dam has been 81.6 million cubic meters since the beginning of this water year, he said, "This amount has been decreased by 13 and 61 percent respectively in comparison to the last water year and the long-term average,."

Pointing out that the average of rainfall in weather station of Isfahan has reached to 44 mm from September 23 to November 26, he noted, "194 and 293 mm have been registered in Fereydoonshahr and Padena stations respectively from the beginning of this water year."

"The total rainfall has reached to 371 mm in Chelgerd station from September 23, but now the stored water in Zayandeh-rood dam is only 128 million cubic meters," he also said.
