Isfahan passed difficult situations of water crisis

"Concerning the crisis that the Zayande-Rood River is facing with, we have to pay attention to all other subjects such as tourism industry, public health, preservation of the green space and historical that are being influenced by the current situation of the river," the mayor of Isfahan said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "The strong concern about providing water to the city was somewhat resolved by making many attempts in the various departments of the municipality like city service department and parks and green space organization, however, unfortunately there is still a concern regarding the water crisis in the next few years as we will have more difficult days than the current conditions," Ghodratollah Nowrouzi said.

"The ideal is not only flowing the Zayndeh-Rood River, but also filling the runnels of Isfahan with water; this can help us to preserve five thousand hectares of green spaces throughout the city, and also prevents the land subsidence and damaging to 500 hectares of the historical texture of the city," he emphasized.

Saying that saving the flowing of the Zayande-Rood River is not only for maintaining the green space, tourism boom, and preserving the historical heritage, the mayor of Isfahan said, "The presence of Zayandeh-Rood River can also maintain people's good health, since the lack of water in the Gavkhooni lagoon causes the dispersal of fine-grained sediment and endangers the public health."

Pointing out that irrigation and preserving 3,700 hectares of green space is not easy, he noted, "During the past months, several thousand water trucks were bought and used to irrigate and preserve the green space of Isfahan; now, new decisions should be made in such a way that the main identity of Isfahan will excellently maintained."
