Dried-up Zayande-Rood threatened Isfahan historical heritages

"I assure all citizens that none of the authorities won't neglect the issues related to the Zayande-Rood River, and I also as the mayor will continue the necessary pursuance regarding this issue," the mayor of Isfahan said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "The fate of the historical bridges and the city heritage, which Isfahan has been proud of them in different eras, is one of the concerns of the urban management," Ghodratollah Norouzi said. "I'm worried that due to the dried Zayandeh-Rood River, the historical bridges of Isfahan will be damaged, as the bridges and the land of Isfahan are waiting for water.  Many efforts have been made in this regard and we hope that water flows in the Zayandeh-Rood River as soon as possible and the citizen's concerns being alleviated in this regard," he added.

Saying that in recent days, some water has been flowing in the Zayandeh-Rood River bed in order to irrigate the gardens of the western side of Isfahan for a few days, the mayor of Isfahan continued, "We tried to guide the water of the Zayandeh-Rood River to Isfahan, but it didn’t happen due to the reduction of water reservoir behind the dam, and also the serious concerns regarding supplying the citizen's drinking water." "If the Zayandeh-Rood River flows sooner, the heritage and capital of the city will not be threatened due to the dryness," Norouzi hoped.
