Prominent actor of Iranian cinema, Ezzatollah Entezami dies, aged 94

Ezzatollah Entezami, the most popular Iranian actor known as Mr. Actor, passed away early on Friday in Tehran at the age of 94.

Isfahan (IMNA) – Born in 1924, Entezami started his career as a theater actor in 1941. Certainly among the handful of enduringly great Iranian film actors he had been, the most widely imitated who electrified three generations.  Entezami featured in many films and TV series like "The Blue Scarf " and "Hezardastan"; however, his brilliant acting in the role of a peasant who cannot endure the death of his beloved cow in “The cow” movie brought him the Silver Hugo in Chicago international film festival in 1971.

In October 2006, warmest thanks rendered him for his accomplishments in Iranian cinema at the Iran cultural center in Paris. As his film career slowed in recent years, Emtezami devoted most of his time to the museum affairs. The legendry actor had been reported to be in failing health for days and appeared frail in recent photos and unfortunately his death followed a series of respiratory failures. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much.
