Single occupancy vehicles commutes to ban in Isfahan

Isfahan's urban management is trying to devote a special day of the week to the municipality's traffic project according which the single-occupancy vehicles commutes in certain areas of the city will be prohibited," the mayor of Isfahan said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "In order to implement the plan of the prohibition of the single-occupancy vehicles' traffic, public support is required," Ghodratollah Norouzi said. "First of all, we will receive the experts' opinions regarding this program, then we will get the required enactments from the competent authorities, and finally we will execute this plan with people's participation; surely this project will have an effective impact on reducing the air pollution and the city's traffic," he continued.

Pointing to the holding the meeting of the metropolitan mayors hosted by Mashhad, he said, "In this meeting which was held in Mashhad last Thursday, the municipalities presented their proposals to the government and parliament to increase the municipalities' sustainable revenues. We hope that we will go forward to the sustainable revenues with the support of the government and parliament; we are trying to revise the rules,and also make new regulations for the municipalities."

"Currently, the municipalities' financial conditions are not good, and the recession has affected on the incomes of this governmental intuition; therefore, we will move to the municipalities' sustainable revenues with a decent policy and make suitable enactments in order to enhance the quality and quantity of the municipality services to the citizens," he added. Pointing to the water shortage conditions, Norouzi said, "Concerning the lack of sufficient available water resources, citizens are expected to reduce their overall water consumption seriously and don’t waste the water."
