400 Traffic surveillance cameras to install in Isfahan

"About 400 traffic surveillance cameras will be installed in Isfahan by the end of August," Isfahan deputy mayor for transportation and traffic said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "These cameras include the cameras of traffic video-surveillance system, recording high-speed offense, running a red-light offense, and pedestrian crossing offense, and the offense of crossing in the BRT lines," Alireza said. "The codes of the offenses were taken from the traffic police and they were investigated, accordingly the cameras will be installed throughout the city by the end of August," he added.

Saying that the effect of installing the traffic video surveillance cameras on the city's discipline has been unique, he said, "By installing surveillance cameras, 70 percent of high-speed offences has been reduced and reached to one third. Running a red-light offense and pedestrian crossing offense saw an 85 percent drop, cameras and the cooperation of the citizens have helped to reduce the tickets and provide the city's safety," Salavati noted.

"Some people may think that the installation of the cameras is for increasing the tickets, while a small amount of these tickets pays to the municipality, and even in the past two years, this amount has been reached to zero, and the municipality doesn’t take any advantages of the tickets. Therefore, the most important goal to install the cameras is decreasing the number of the offenses, regulating the city, and reducing the abnormalities," he also said.
