Isfahan one step closer to a child-friendly city

"The plan of creating child care rooms or mother-and-child rooms in public places of the city was approved by the city council," the head of the international child-friendly city secretariat of the deputy of urbanization and architecture of Isfahan's municipality said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "This year, the plan to identify special open-air and covered public places where the presence of mothers and children under the age of 3 counts the most, is on the agenda and the international child-friendly city secretariat is appointed as the supervisor and planner of this child friendly activity," Alireza Nowroozi said. "The urban spaces of the country have some shortcomings and deficiencies; one of them is the lack of suitable spaces for mothers' breastfeeding and caring in public places like shopping malls, terminals, and in general, all of the public spaces where the mothers attend the most," he added.
 

Stating that in some countries, safe areas are designed to provide mothers a heartsease situation to attend in the urban places safely, Nowroozi added," In these rooms, breastfeeding and nappy changing by mothers who have children under the age of 3 are possible, the entrance of these rooms are free and the management is carried out by the help of the private sector, its preservation and repairs are also upon an organization where the room is located in its area,"   "Currently, Kaveh Bus Terminal has a mother-and-child room, and other urban spaces like Ngahsh-e Jahan square, Ghadir garden, recreational centers, some of the urban train stations, and tourism places like Chaharbagh Avenue will also be equipped by these rooms in the following years," he noted.
