Greywater irrigation best way to save water

“In order to save water, citizens can irrigate their house gardens by gray water,” the Managing Director of Parks and Green Space of Isfahan Municipality said.

Isfahan (IMNA) - "Training courses are being held to irrigate green spaces and gardens appropriately because we have faced a serious water stress this year." Forouq Mortezainejhad said. She emphasized on planting drought- resistance and low water requirement tree and plant species and added: “Drought tolerant plants such as herbaceous flowers, planted in some areas, have seasonal beauty, are permanent, and need low water.”


 

“Flowers such as Mountain Anemone, Chamomile, chrysanthemum, Salvia, Rocky Clove, Iranian lily, Yarrow, as well as trees like Juniper, permanent  Green Oak, Zagros Oak and Peanut, Jujube, and American Berries are the species that are suitable for planting in the house gardens in water crisis conditions we are faced,” said the Managing director of Parks and Green Space of Isfahan Municipality.
 

In order to save water, she asked the citizens to irrigate their house gardens by using gray water. Besides, citizens are recommended to plant permanent drought tolerant flowers to prevent wasting water. “According to the National Building Regulations, 20% of the courtyards of residential houses or complexes should be allocated to green spaces; so, introducing such drought tolerant species is necessary for house gardens,” Mortezaenejhad continued.
