Petroglyphs in Gharghab in favor of people in Khomeyn!

The ancient area with special prehistoric petroglyphs is located in Gharghab village at the northwest of Golpayegan County. This area has the biggest and the most complete collection of historical artworks of petroglyphs of the country; and the paintings on these rocks illustrate the early human life.

Isfahan (IMNA) - The paintings like mountain goat, mouflon, gazelle, horse, wolf, lion, one-hump camel, two-humps camel, leopard, boar, Maral deer, roe deer (Iranian yellow one), cheetah, snake, turtle, and many other unknown animals are among the patterns on the petroglyphs. Each of them conveys a special concept.
 

Mountain goat petroglyphs with the share of about 75 percent, has the highest share among petroglyphs in the area. In different ages, mountain goat has had different symbols such as; water, abundance of blessing and generosity. Petroglyphs are any kinds of chirography or painting remained on the rocks. On the other words, petroglyphs are the mother of chirography art and global culture and civilization. Each year, a large number of domestic and foreigner tourists travel to Gharghab area in Golpayegan to see the historical petroglyphs. This year, 4 thousand tourists visited these historical artworks on the 13th of Nowrouz.
 

Petroglyphs are in favor of people in Khomeyn!

Petroglyphs of Gharghab area have been taken over because of the common borders with Khomein County. If the officials of Isfahan cultural heritage organization don’t take any actions, seven thousand petroglyphs and this tourist destination of Golpayegan will be attributed to Khomeyn County. Tourism industry has an important role in developing the economy and culture of this county. These ancient and historical artworks depict the identity and destiny of the area. Therefore, the county authorities must pay special attention to this issue and do not let other cities to own the area illegally.
