The whole world should know half the world

"The main advantages of Isfahan are its tourism industry and handicrafts; Introducing marketing is very important in this regard. We are trying to improve the capacities in these areas by the cooperation of provincial authorities. For example, one of the successful way of marketing is holding specialized and professional exhibitions," said Salarian during a special interview with IMNA.

Isfahan (IMNA) - "considering the existence of more than 8,000 industrial and production units in Isfahan, an attempt has been made to establish a good relationship between the economic and industrial sections and Isfahan's Chamber of Commerce. We are trying to facilitate and accelerate the connection of Isfahan with different countries, especially the targeted neighboring country. Moreover, Isfahan's governorate with the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office are preparing a portal called "The Window" to introduce the investment opportunities of the city," added the head of representative office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following is his special interview (part B) with IMNA.

What do you think about the role of mass media in introducing Isfahan as an international city?

Improving tourism industry in Isfahan requires the cooperation of all the provincial institutions, especially the media community; despite the fact that all local websites provide Persian content for internal use, there is a serious need to introduce Isfahan to the world in different languages, or at least one international language; this plan requires allocated budget to be performed. In this regard, we need to interact with foreign media and magazines and even allocate special budget to this end; in this way we can introduce Isfahan's attractions to the people of other countries in their own language.

How do you evaluate the mutual interaction of Isfahan and its sister cities?

Generally, the concept of sisterhood is a kind of prestige for Isfahan and Iran; saying that we are sister of a significant number of towns will bring an international reputation for Isfahan, even if nothing is done. Of course, despite all limitations in this regard, Isfahan stablished prominent cooperation with sister cities in the fields of economics, tourism, and inter-university communication.

What is your idea about the official trips?

I think such trips are vital; in this regard, it is necessary for media to explain the needs for such travels so that people will get familiarized with the aims behind such trips. Soon, the mayors of creative cities may convene in a meeting in Poland; since Isfahan is also a member of this meeting, this opportunity would certainly be the great chance to introduce Iran and Isfahan.

Does the representative office of Ministry of foreign Affairs has any plans to utilize the potential of religious minority diversity in Isfahan for international relations?.

That’s definitely the case; whenever an official from European countries or Christian authorities travels to Iran, we will certainly take them to the Vank Church and other places related to religious minorities. It is worth mentioning that beside the Armenians, Jews also live in Isfahan with peace and tranquility; this is considered as the finest example of a peaceful coexistence and shows how people with different religions are combined in Isfahan and live together without any problems.

What is your most interesting memory about the trip of a foreigner official to Isfahan?

During the month of March, Spain's Foreign Minister came to Isfahan and planned to visit Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque; on the way, he visited some young Spanish tourists and got very surprised. He talked to those young people and took photos; this event was certainly desirable for us. Another interesting point was that the Foreign Minister was willing to visit Cheleston Palace and take photos of the first Spanish Ambassador at the court of Safavid king which is painted inside the palace; while many Iranian do not know anything about the existence of this picture. It shows that Isfahan has great attractions for officials and people who are familiar with tourism.
