Tourism school a need in Isfahan

Alireza Salarian, who has recently become the Head of Representative Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan, worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -sections for East and West Asia, Afghanistan, Western Europe, Greece- as well as economic sections; and finally on his last mission, as the chancellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou of China.

Isfahan (IMNA) - Following is his special interview (part A) with IMNA.

Please provide us with some explanations about the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan.

Representative Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan focuses on the areas of economy, tourism, culture, and consular services. Another important part of our duties is coordinating the travels of foreign officials and various delegations to Isfahan which we regulate them with the relevant institutions of the province, including the governorate and the municipality. Of course, in my work plan I have prioritized the subject of "Tourism Development”.

In the economic and tourism fields, we have specified different agendas. Some of the representative Office activities include establishing and strengthening the relationship of economic institutions of the province with foreign countries while considering the numerous capacities of Isfahan province in this field.

In the cultural section, we have scheduled special programs including making efforts to establish and strengthen the connections between universities of Isfahan and abroad such as South China universities. We also try to use university capacities to develop tourism; as an example, we proposed the establishment of a "Tourism School" to the authorities of the University of Isfahan. In this regard, we also talked to well-known countries such as Spain; fortunately, a cooperation document was signed between the two universities last week. In the consular section, my colleagues do all the consular affairs of the citizens; so, there is no longer a need for citizens to travel to Tehran to do such affairs.

What are the Isfahan's problem regarding being as an international and attractive city for tourists?

One of the main problems is that tourism tours of Iran, including Isfahan, are very expensive. Another point is that the advertising and tourism infrastructure of Isfahan have problems; the appearance of the airport does not depict the beauty Isfahan for the passengers who come here for the first time. Also when entering the city, the passengers encounter with some issues such as irregular traffic, careless motorcyclists, and so on. Another problem is that tourists' tastes and food cultures are not taken into consideration; so, travel agencies should pay more attention to the taste of food in the target countries. Another problems is related to offering wireless Internet in the city which is necessary for all tourist centers and hotels. In the past, Isfahan Municipality ran a free internet project in some tourist centers which is necessary to be continued.
