Isfahan (IMNA) - "Regarding the discovery of the stone pool on the roof of the 4th floor of Aliqapu, a contract was concluded in order to rehabilitate Aliqapu’s water supply route because it was not in a good condition. Our goal was to explore this route because when the veranda was being rehabilitated, the pool and parts of its pipe routes were visible; they are still visible in some parts of the third floor ", said Mitra, the director of the World Base of Naqsh-e-Jahan Square.
“Actually, when the roof of the third and fourth floors were being renovated, the stone pool and a part of the runnel route were discovered, but archaeological actions to discover the remaining route and the excavations have not completed yet" he added.
"Archaeological excavations are continued to find out whether this stone pool, which is visible on the roof of the fourth floor, is connected with something else or not; because there is a hole at the bottom of the pool and it is necessary to discover that to where the bottom of the pool is connected with.", the director of the World Base of Naqshe-e-Jahan Square reiterated.
"Due to the necessity of being cautious, the archaeological excavation process will last a little longer because we may encounter special monuments during the process; so, it is estimated that archaeological operations lasts a month.", he said.
