Water shortage has reached a critical level in Isfahan

The governor of Isfahan said: “water, environment, and employment are the most important issues of Isfahan province; however, water shortage has reached a critical level.

Isfahan (IMNA) _ In the “Strategic Planning and Resistance Economics Management” meeting, during which Nobakht, spokesperson of the government in Isfahan province attended, Mohsen Mehralizade stated:" Isfahan province is one of the leading provinces regarding many aspects such as; historical, human resources, economical and social dimensions and its role in sacred defense. Isfahan can be considered as the pilot city in line with the country's aims.

In the response to Nobakht, he added: “you can consider Isfahan as an investment model in any field you wish. For example; good actions has been taken regarding the water issue.Isfahan can be a good model for water management. “There have been three main issues in Isfahan since November when I was appointed as the governor of Isfahan province; water, environment, and employment. We have been working round-the-clock to solve these problems,” Mehralizade said.

The governor of Isfahan affirmed: “the debit of Zayanderood in catchment basin has been 380 billion cubic meters in this year, which is very negligible in comparison to the predictable debit of 1 billion and 800 million cubic meters. This debit has reached a third and now the amount of rainfall has decreased 64% in comparison to the last year.

He added: “after Nowrooz holiday, the drought problem and farmers unemployment intensified. Despite saving water, we cannot provide agricultural water to the farmers. While pointing to the unemployment problem, the governor of Isfahan stated: “one of the most important problems regarding the unemployment is administrative bureaucracy; the administrative process in Isfahan takes a longer time to be accomplished in compare with other provinces. He stressed: “if more authorities are not given to provinces and provincial administrations, it will be impossible to leverage all the capacities of the provinces.”
