Equal urban facilities, all citizens’ right: Isfahan Mayor

The bishop of Isfahan Armenians and Southern Iran met with the mayor of Isfahan.

As IMNA quotes from Communication Bureau of Isfahan Municipality, the bishop along with some members of Armenians Community in Isfahan held talks with Ghodratollah Norouzi, Isfahan mayor.  

Regardless of all religious issues, we consider all Isfahan population of equal rights and urban facilities, the mayor said. He added: as Islam suggests, all human beings enjoy the same inherent dignity without regards to their religion and ethics; with this in mind, all religions can provide the opportunity for urban development.  

All Isfahan people deserve equal urban facilities

The mayor spoke about Isfahan as a metropolitan consisting of a number of civilizations and religions. He then confirmed that all religions can live with each other in pure peace.

I see the Armenian and Moslem population in Isfahan through the same lenses, Norouzi stressed.

Tourism opportunities open up by Armenian Diocesan Council

The mayor also reminded that the ground must be paved for more presence of Christian and Armenian tourists in the city of Isfahan to make tourism industry grow. “Isfahan will well receive such activities”, he assured the addresses.

Armenians are freely living in Iran

The chief bishop of Armenians in Isfahan considered his meeting with Isfahan mayor so valuable and said: municipality is an organ which directly works with people, so I hope that we can cooperate well in order to take efficient steps for the city.

He further mentioned some of their proceedings for Isfahan development namely as hotel construction, renovation of ancient houses and transform them into tourist accommodation etc.

As his closing remarks, the bishop reminded people of the Armenians’ best aids to Iran and Isfahan through history, saying: we manage to extend such services and consultation to higher extents.
