Women can enter stadiums: Iranian VP

The bylaw for women’s presence in the athletic stadiums has been drafted to facilitate the conditions, said Vice President of Iran for Women and Family Affairs.

“We need to move forward step by step, there should be no room for worrying,” said Masoumh Ebtakar to IRNA.

Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran and especially in the recent years, women’s social presence has noticeably grown; their role in business and economic activities has soared; more than half on the university students have been women, and in sports, Iranian women have shined in global competitions such as the Olympics.

“Women’s participation in the stadiums requires a special framework,” Ebtekar said after Iran won the women’s futsal match with Italy last week.
