Universities required to give urban management a hand

Mayor of Isfahan: Isfahan's sister cities enjoy high capacity of helping the urban management in terms of scientific diplomacy.

As IMNA quotes from Mehdi Jamalinejad: "all the knowledge poles of the city are present at today meeting and we hope that they will never leave the urban management alone", the mayor made the remarks in a summit on exchanging contracts of research projects of Isfahan municipality regarding the environment & energy with University of Isfahan as well as Isfahan university of Technology.

Jamalinejad explained that the today cities are quite distinct from the past decades. Since Isfahan is titled as the first corridor of science and technology, whoever willing to cooperate in the body of municipality needs to be aware that the urban management has changed and is not just focused on mere service affairs.

”Nowadays municipalities have expanded their approach to more cultural issues rather than service affairs only, making urban management be more knowledge-based", the mayor pointed out.

The mayor further continued: "major problems such as water shortage, traffic, and air pollution have been specified over years through different substantial meetings, but no short-term or mid-term resolutions have been proposed on the issue. Thus we need to perform in a more converge way."

"A renaissance is occurring in urban management worldwide', stated Jamalinejad, adding: all cities in the universe are getting smart and entrepreneurial. Isfahan, therefore, should pioneer in this regard to act differently due to its historical roots.

The mayor then reminded: the center of New Urban Technologies and the Center of Creativity and Innovation were accordingly established in the city of Isfahan so as to take advantage of the genius' and scholars' knowledge better than ever.
