Land-use change & anti-pest actions among citizens’ most important demands

At the public meeting of Isfahan mayor with citizens of district 9, land-use change & anti-pest proceedings were among the most significant requirements of the people in the region.

According to IMNA News Agency, quoting from Communication Bureau of Isfahan Municipality: The response committee of Isfahan municipality is keeping the responsibility at the previously defined speed. The mayor of Isfahan along with his deputies made their public meeting with district 9 citizens over the recent week.   

Public meetings hold more advantages than potential disadvantages

Regarding the subject, the member of Isfahan City Council Alireza Nasr Isfahani emphasized that numerous needs of people will be met during such gatherings. “However, if issues are transparent enough, there will be no need for the mayor and the supervisory committees to personally visit the districts”, he declared.

Alireza Nasr believes that if the mayor visits the neighborhood in person, solving problems will be much effective. He then added: Public meetings hold more advantages than potential disadvantages, though.

The manager of district 9, Abbas Rouhani, mentioned that land-use change and anti-pest actions are among the citizens’ most important demands. He continued: Many lands in this area are used as farms and green spaces, and it is highly unlikely that these lands could enjoy a change of usage, according to the municipality’s detailed plans.     

“Drying the gardens because of lack of water is another problem the inhabitants are facing in district 9”, he mentioned and added: “Maadis” i.e. small streams on streets, do not receive enough water during the time that “Zayande-Rud” flows; therefore, Isfahan citizens expect the municipality pursue the matter.    

Ruined houses and dried gardens are the great challenges for district 9 of Isfahan municipality

The deputy of municipality’s urban services, Ahmad Reza Mosavar, referred to the ruined houses as the most significant problem of the residents of district 9, declaring: These houses have the problem of Multi-ownership, and most of them have been emptied as a result of emigration.   

He explained that the municipality organs are not admitted into such houses due to the hygienic, safety, & urbanization precautions; and suggested: The municipality is able to send legal notices to organize the issue.

Mosavar further mentioned the dried gardens in district 9 as another crucial issue which is resulted from water shortage. He then defined that the municipality, therefore, has to resort to changing the use of these lands according to the detailed plans.
